HARRY ZAKARIA SOEHARDJA was graduated in civil engineering from the Institute of Technology, Bandung in 1968. During the early days aftergraduated from the University, he spent most of the time with several private companies such as C.V. Waringin, in Bandung, P.T. Kapin and P.T. Cena & Associates. Thesesteps were taken with a view to obtain experiences in the field of civil engineering works.
Apparently experiences gained from those companies were very beneficial and useful to pave his way to a better career. Zakaria resigned from P.T. Cena & Associates on his own request and endeavoured to submit an application at a bigger private company i.e. P.T. Engineering. A lot of involvement and activities were experienced during his service with P.T. Pan Perfecta where he was charged with civil engineering works and structures.
With the establishment of P.T. Dacrea in 1974, a company engaged in design and engineering consultancy, Zakaria joined the company in same year where he was designated as Manager for civil engineering works. During his service with P.T. Dacrea, Zakaria was involved in the design, planning and supervision of various engineering works relating to constructions and installations. He was also assigned as team leader for the design and supervision of major engineering works such as bridges, roads and building construction as well as installation of mechanical workshop and potable water plans.
In line with the First Long-Term Development Plan in the country and also to cope with the air transportation demand, a sister company of P.T. Dacrea i.e. P.T. Dacrea Avia was established in 1984 and Zakaria belongs to one of the founders of this new company. This new company is engaged in a wide range of consulting engineering services, airlines operation and related activities as well as management. Zakaria is now Member of Board of Directors at P.T. Dacrea Avia.
He has been actively involved in the master planning and detailed design of major airports in the country such as Ujung Pandang, Ambon, Sorong, Padang, Balikpapan, Soekarno-Hatta etc. As well as other projects assigned by the Department of Communication, Department of Public Works and other private companies.
Zakaria is also member of professional societies such as Indonesian Society of Structural Engineers and Indonesian Society of Soil Engineers.
